Niantic’s 9th Anniversary Party event for Pokemon GO has introduced the debut of Shiny Gimmighoul, a rare variant appearing for the first time in the mobile game. The event runs from Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 10 AM local time until Sunday, July 6, at 8 PM local time.

During the event, trainers can encounter the Shiny version of Gimmighoul through Gold PokeStops and via the Coin Bag feature, both requiring coordination with *Pokemon Scarlet* and Violet on the Nintendo Switch. The featured Gimmighoul carries a unique 9th-anniversary coin.

Shiny Gimmighoul appears exclusively at Gold PokeStops. Normal PokeStops must be turned into Gold ones using a Golden Lure Module. While Gold PokeStops may randomly occur during the event, applying a Golden Lure Module guarantees Gimmighoul encounters.

To receive Golden Lure Modules, players must send Postcards from Pokemon GO to their linked Scarlet/Violet account. The first transfer unlocks the Coin Bag, while five cumulative transfers grant a Golden Lure Module. Only one Golden Lure can be stored at a time. Additional transfers yield Gimmighoul Coins.

How To Activate Coin Bag and Encounter Roaming Gimmighoul

1. Link Pokemon GO and Scarlet/Violet accounts via Settings and the Poke Portal.

2. In Scarlet/Violet, open the Mystery Gift feature and select "Connect to Pokemon GO."

3. In the GO app, choose a postcard from the Postcard Book and send it to the Switch.

4. Upon receipt, the Coin Bag becomes available in Pokemon GO.

Once activated, the Coin Bag spawns Roaming Form Gimmighoul for 30 minutes. This process can be repeated daily with a new postcard.

Evolution requires collecting 999 Gimmighoul Coins, obtainable only from Gold PokeStops. No in-game candies are needed for this evolution. The same requirement applies to the Shiny form.

Key Takeaways for Trainers

* Shiny Gimmighoul is exclusive to Gold PokeStops and Coin Bag encounters.

* Golden Lure Modules come from sending five postcards to Scarlet/Violet.

* Coin Bags can be used once per day after sending a postcard.

* 999 Gimmighoul Coins are required for evolution into Gholdengo.
